Envy. To want something you can't have. To covet that feeling, that thing that other people might get from a rush of solving the crime. To do everything in your power, like killing, like asking questions, interviews, seeing it - to get that feeling.
Or is it Greed? Wanting all of the information for yourself? Wanting to store it and hoard it for no other reason that to say that you have it?
[Not fully either, she thinks, but also bits of both - envy bleeding into greed, or envy powering greed. She wants so many things she doesn't have, and sometimes, hoarding information is a good way to get those things.
She doesn't say any of this out loud, but it flickers across her face before she puts on a smile.]
[It's not that she's particularly interested in atonement, nor does John seem like someone she can safely confide in. But damn it if he hadn't gotten her a little curious with that envy vs. greed analysis.]
